In ABS-CBNNEWS.COM, TODAY newspaper has one of its tart editorials basically saying Filipinos should learn to stop blaming the government every time they get into trouble abroad. An interesting tidbit:
The Japanese have a better grip on the morality of incidents such as the one Angelo de la Cruz inflicted on the entire Filipino nation. When three Japanese nationals were similarly abducted by Iraqi insurgents, Tokyo moved heaven and earth to secure their release. Once the hostages were liberated, however, the Japanese government required them to pay the cost of their rescue. Moreover, the Japanese people never let the three forget the trouble they caused their nation by ostracizing them. No triumphal homecomings for them.

Dear Mr. Quezon:
On behalf of the Supreme Court of the Philippines and The Asia Foundation, we are pleased to invite you to a one-day Forum for Journalists on Judiciary-Media Relations, which will be held on October 11, 2004 at the Orchid Garden Suites Manila, 620 Pablo Ocampo Sr. St., Malate, Manila. The program starts at 8:00 a.m.
The forum responds to the need of journalists to know more about the workings of the courts, as articulated during the seminar-workshops for journalists and judges which were conducted by the AIJC in April this year. One of the main activities of the program is to present the draft “Guidebook for Journalists Covering the Courts.”
We look forward to your active participation in this forum. Ms. Lorie Macapugay, Project Officer, will be getting in touch with you to confirm your attendance.
Thank you and best regards.
Sincerely yours,
