Yesterday I submitted my resignation to the President effective the end of the month. My moving to the Inquirer requires it. The past year working on the restoration of the presidential palace, and on researching and writing the architectural history of the place, and working on gathering information on the history of the presidency -plus my work on reforming the system of presidential awards and on the improvement of standards concerning our national heraldry, has been the most rewarding of my life.
I’m quite proud to have done some real substantive work; and I think there will be an institutional legacy set in place because of my work. The President has been an extremely supportive boss; but I know she understands that my first calling is to be an opinion writer, and that after almost a year of not being able to focus on writing, I need to go back to my calling.
