Singaw, self-proclaimed demoniac?

Today, a full page Singaw ng Bayan ad came out, with the usual counter-arguments to One Voice.

But this part is simply too flabbergasting to leave unremarked upon.

Says the “Sigaw ng Bayan” ad in a major broadsheet (see scan of the actual paragraph here):

We in Sigaw ng Bayan have never hidden our identities and our specific interests. We’re local officials, professionals, small businessmen, office workers. Our name is Legion, for we are many.

Which reminds me of the old saying that even the devil can quote scripture. For what do we find in Mark 5: 1-18 (see the American Standard Version, the King James Version, and the World English Bible; the Douay-Rheims Version and the Revised Standard Version, quoted below)? Read it and weep:

Chapter 5

1 They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Ger’asenes. 2 And when he had come out of the boat, there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 who lived among the tombs; and no one could bind him any more, even with a chain; 4 for he had often been bound with fetters and chains, but the chains he wrenched apart, and the fetters he broke in pieces; and no one had the strength to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out, and bruising himself with stones. 6 And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped him; 7 and crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” 8 For he had said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” 10 And he begged him eagerly not to send them out of the country. 11 Now a great herd of swine was feeding there on the hillside; 12 and they begged him, “Send us to the swine, let us enter them.” 13 So he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered the swine; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and were drowned in the sea.

14 The herdsmen fled, and told it in the city and in the country. And people came to see what it was that had happened. 15 And they came to Jesus, and saw the demoniac sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, the man who had had the legion; and they were afraid. 16 And those who had seen it told what had happened to the demoniac and to the swine. 17 And they began to beg Jesus to depart from their neighborhood. 18 And as he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him.

An exorcism of Sigaw’s copywriter (if not its entire directorate) is in order.

  1. Satan and his legions are real. In fact, he must be gnashing his teeth that no matter how much he tries to possess people like the Midget, he is still not acknowledged by Glory be who glorifies only herself.

Apparently, those who can associate with the crooks overstaying at the palace by the murky river must be crooks themselves. Talk of birds of the same feather flocking together!

Let me share some words of wisdom found in the Scriptures for your reference lest you be deceived:

“For behold, God hath said a man being evil cannot do that which is good; for if he offereth a gift, or prayeth unto God, except he shall do it with real intent it profiteth him nothing.
    • • •
“For behold, if a man being evil giveth a gift, he doeth it grudgingly; wherefore it is counted unto him the same as if he had retained the gift; wherefore he is counted evil before God.

“And likewise also is it counted evil unto a man, if he shall pray and not with real intent of heart; yea, and it profiteth him nothing, for God receiveth none such.

“Wherefore, a man being evil cannot do that which is good; neither will he give a good gift.
    • • •
“Wherefore, all things which are good cometh of God; and that which is evil cometh of the devil; for the devil is an enemy unto God, and fighteth against him continually, and inviteth and enticeth to sin, and to do that which is evil continually.
    • • •
“Wherefore, take heed, my beloved brethren, that ye do not judge that which is evil to be of God, or that which is good and of God to be of the devil.

“For behold, my brethren, it is given unto you to judge, that ye may know good from evil; and the way to judge is as plain, that ye may know with a perfect knowledge, as the daylight is from the dark night.

“For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God.

“But whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do evil, and believe not in Christ, and deny him, and serve not God, then ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of the devil; for after this manner doth the devil work, for he persuadeth no man to do good, no, not one; neither do his angels; neither do they who subject themselves unto him.
    • • •
“Wherefore, I beseech of you, brethren, that ye should search diligently in the light of Christ that ye may know good from evil; and if ye will lay hold upon every good thing, and condemn it not, ye certainly will be a child of Christ.

“And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” (Moro. 7: 6, 8-10, 12, 14-17, 19, 45)

  2. Does anybody care to prophesy?

This specific chapter from Mark’s Gospel is the recommended daily reading for July 23rd, the same day the ad came out and this blog entry was written. (Reference: Christ In The Gospel).

    Or pure coincidence?

A similar account also appears in Luke, Chapter 8, commencing with verse 26.

I suppose nobody noticed that in the narrative, Christ actually listened and acceded to the request of the devils – that they be instead cast out and enter into the swine. A bit unusual for Christ to appear “negotiating” with the devil.

  3. And what is most amazing is that the lady in Malacañan was born on April 5, 1947 and guess what 1947 falls in the year of the PIG (swine). Coincidence?

  4. afraid of changes?… maintaining the status quo… OH MY GOD, WE MUST MOVE ON!
