Today, a full page Singaw ng Bayan ad came out, with the usual counter-arguments to One Voice.
But this part is simply too flabbergasting to leave unremarked upon.
Says the “Sigaw ng Bayan” ad in a major broadsheet (see scan of the actual paragraph here):
We in Sigaw ng Bayan have never hidden our identities and our specific interests. We’re local officials, professionals, small businessmen, office workers. Our name is Legion, for we are many.
Which reminds me of the old saying that even the devil can quote scripture. For what do we find in Mark 5: 1-18 (see the American Standard Version, the King James Version, and the World English Bible; the Douay-Rheims Version and the Revised Standard Version, quoted below)? Read it and weep:
Chapter 5
1 They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Ger’asenes. 2 And when he had come out of the boat, there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 who lived among the tombs; and no one could bind him any more, even with a chain; 4 for he had often been bound with fetters and chains, but the chains he wrenched apart, and the fetters he broke in pieces; and no one had the strength to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out, and bruising himself with stones. 6 And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped him; 7 and crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” 8 For he had said to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” 10 And he begged him eagerly not to send them out of the country. 11 Now a great herd of swine was feeding there on the hillside; 12 and they begged him, “Send us to the swine, let us enter them.” 13 So he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered the swine; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and were drowned in the sea.
14 The herdsmen fled, and told it in the city and in the country. And people came to see what it was that had happened. 15 And they came to Jesus, and saw the demoniac sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, the man who had had the legion; and they were afraid. 16 And those who had seen it told what had happened to the demoniac and to the swine. 17 And they began to beg Jesus to depart from their neighborhood. 18 And as he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him.
An exorcism of Sigaw’s copywriter (if not its entire directorate) is in order.

they are so just incredibly insecure that they have gone off to the dark side! wait…they are the dark side! hehehe this is just too funny! they took an ad to proclaim that their name is Legion.satan would be so darn proud! asus!
Exquisitely framed repartee, Manolo.
Sigaw is of their father The Devil and their mother in Malacanang..
tsk tsk
How apropos.. sigaw na galing lang sa impyerno..
toots, the same can be said of One Voice.it all depends from where you stand.
Toots, satan has been known to present himself in a very attractive manner hard to say no too, in shinning & sparkling ways.
Whoes Voice is One Voice anyway?
But is’nt One Voice the same “oust gma” gang that have been inventing & re inventing themselves endlesly.
How sure are you your not being fed lies?
Or is it because the “messengers” are more plesant & anything they say can only be right?
Is it the Voice of those defending the status quo?
Is it the Voice pretending to decide the future of the country?
What is One Voice so worried about?
Why not let the people decide?
Why feed the people “lies” and “scare” them?
Why is One Voice bent on frustrating Charter change?
Why wait for 2007 & do it anyway in a constitutional convention?
What’s the catch?
Why not just say it stright forward that the present system is just perfect for us since w/ it we are so properous & progressive?!
One voice says that the present system does not hinder economic growth & social development even if the facts before our eyes say otherwise. Who is playing blind?
Why is One Voice planting wrong ideas about creating a super-president w/ additional Prime Minester powers w/c opens the doors to those in power staying on indefinitely?
Those of you who are blindly following a Voice, are you really sure you are not being lied too?
Why should a SC be weaker in a unicameral from a bicameral?
Why is One Voice using “scar” tactics?
Why do they have to use “half truths & lies” to get the peoples attention?
One Voice is the Voice of the very “elite” who have been controlling this Nation & they can’t stand the though of losing control.
Senators have serious “pork barrels” that do not need accounting.
I wounder where they spend it?
One Voice “use’ the words “change” but will not hesitate to tell lies & half truths.
What is “One trembling Voice” scared of?
I would rather give my attention to what the comon people really fill then a bunch of “elite pretenders” out to protect their interest using their names & titles.
I guess One Voice is just exploiting peoples hate for the administration & shalloness to get away w/ what they want.
The nerve that they dare use that they want Change.
haba naman ng reply ni Joselu.

sorry Paeng, na double pa, just that I have many question to ask & am not the amen type, sorry
joselu, why not answer your own questions with regards to the side you prefer?
yep ditto on that manolo..
whose voice is Sigaw’s anyway?
Isn’t it just an invention by Malacanang?
What is Sigaw anyway?
Wasn’t Sigaw ng Bayan just an afterthought and outgrowth of the ad hoc commission for constitutional change created by Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and now spearheaded by Mr. Lambino who used to be a part of that commission?
Why is Sigaw ng Bayan bent on pushing Charter change and why the rush?
Why NOT wait for 2007 & do it anyway in a constitutional convention?
Sigaw ng Bayan says that the present system hinders economic growth & social development and that constitutional change is in effect the panacea to all these problems.
Why does Sigaw ng Bayan NOT think that creating a super-president w/ additional Prime Minister powers indeed open the doors for those in power staying on indefinitely?
How certain are you a SC would NOT be weaker in a unicameral from a bicameral?
Why is Sigaw ng Bayan feel threatened and why does it resort to “labelling
Why does Sigaw ng Bayan feel they have to hard-sell cha cha down our collective throats and why the rush?
Sigaw claims to be the very voice of the masses and claims to speak for them when in all probability it is nothing but an orchestration of a Malacanang protecting its own agenda.
What is Sigaw’s agenda: it is a creation of Malacanang..
The nerve that they dare say they are the voice of the nation..
Dapat “Sigaw ng Malacanang” ang tawag sa kanila.
I believe both One Voice and Sigaw ng Bayan are Registered as an NGOs and maybe contribution and donation to each are Tax Deductible and thereby public records. But since both are more of specific issue oriented organizations, thus such can be considered as Political Lobbyists. And both could no longer be considered as a non-profit, charitable entity under the definition. It’s the same, albeit opposing views, and let the better man or woman carries the day. And true to our natural instinc, hit the messenger, instead of the message. “I’m clean, you’re a dirt, I’m pure, you’re a sinner, I’m god chosen, you’re Satan’s”. When do we stop being self righteous?
I for one is in favor of change, change of mind set, change of attitude, change of the “corrupt” system brought about not by the system, but by the people who corrupted the system and you can change the system until you turn Blue, unless the whole society grow up to Maturity, that the welfare of the Nation is not built in an Individual Wealth and concentration of wealth among the few, that the public Office is not a ticket to Instant Prosperity at the expense of Masses, but a “Trust” that must be treasured by each who have been fortunate to be given a chance. These and more I learned and observed looking from the outside and sometimes you can see things clearly and objectively from afar. Thank you very much..
hahaha…grabe a direct quote from the Bible… ahiihihii…couldn’t have been more appropriate..
unbelievable
Amen to that Vic. From the political arena, the administration now enters the social arena. A class war would surely work in GMA’s favor. Divide, Conquer then Rule.
joselu, we’re not into “scar” tactics. btw, are you a member of sigaw ng bayan aka Legion? if yes, then definitely we’re not on the same wavelength so whatever I say won’t have a snowball’s chance in hell. but i respect your views, joselu, and wish you well. amen!
So nasagot na din yun tanong ng diktador about how many legions does the church command. Kaya naman pala walang legions ang church. Eh mga demonyo naman pala yun mga legions na iyon.
Slip of the forked tongue ang nangyari sa legions ni Joselu. Hahahahaha
Manolo,
I’d love to see One Voice and Sigaw on ANC’s Square Off. That would be very interesting.
funny thing is…I don’t think the slip was anything Freudian..it was a casual(and diabolic) admission that Sigaw was conceptualized straight from the pit of hell(read: Malacanang).
I mean ..why quote the devil or his demons from a verse in the bible?
both sigaw and one voice are nothing but proxy for vested interests..that of the politicians(for sigaw) and the rich AND THE SUPER RICH for one voice who are willing enough to provide all the millions to preserve their monopoly of the protected businesses in this country. What a tragedy!
emilie… obviously, you are not, pero when the time comes and through hard work inspired creativity, you join the ranks of the rich and super-rich, I bet that you will make SIGAW, too. he he he…
emilie… obviously, you are not … harsh naman nyan, mong
antonio… pero there is no emilie… click on the name and you are sent to no one at all….
well … i remember when her name linked to toilets … ok. hurt lang siguro ako kasi wala din ako pera BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Just kidding. hindi ako hurt. pero wala din ako pera. walanglaban nga e. hehe.
the harsh reality is that some people only want to spout communist propaganda — class warfare, rich versus poor.
mong, di ba ganyan din ang propaganda ni erap? di ba ganyan din ang propaganda ni macoy against the oligarchs?
I am still proud of our beloved Philippines (even if, right now, I am an OFW-worker in Oman.) Our country must work hard to maintain freedom of the press and to ensure the safety of our newspaper/media people (the ones who expose graft and corruption and even those who write pro- or anti-administration political columns).
PUTANGINA MO GLORIA !!!!
What’s the difference between SIGAW NG BAYAN and ONE VOICE? Or any similarity perhaps?
The Bishops say ONE VOICE is non-partisan. Really? SIGAW NG BAYAN or… in Rep. Cayetano’s own words, BULONG NG MALACAÑANG?
Both DELIBERATELY ignore the fact that Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is the problem. As long as she insists to be called “President”, no meaningful social and political reforms will ever take place. ONE VOICE may have long term goals in mind but even these are impossible to be initiated under the current set-up.
SINGAW NG BAYAN vs. ONE VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS?
Take your pick. Me? I’d rather not. I’d rather throw my support on the impeachment process as this is the only constitutional way of removing Mrs. Arroyo. Impossible you say? Well, no earthly power lasts forever. Her time will come. The long arm of the law will soon catch up with her.
Erwin…. GMA’s time is limited because she walks out of Malacanang when her term of office ends. The Constitution…. remember the constitution?
JOSELU, why not ask those same questions to SINGAW?
non-partisan means not supporting a particular candidate or party. that is all the term means, and i think it applies quite clearly to One Voice. political involvement and advocacy is an entirely different matter.
You have a point there proudPinoy but you are banking on the assumption that GMA will step down when her term ends. I mean, how sure are you that she will step down come 2010? I’m not doubting the sincerity of most of the people who support ONE VOICE but whatever reforms they would like to be implemented will NEVER be realized while the midget is there. They should, first and foremost, support the removal of Mrs. Arroyo or all their objectives will only go for naught.
Sigaw ng Bayan is a jukebox. Hey remember the jukebox? Never plays or sings without the laglag. Ever wondered where they got the money for the ads? Do you believe their “legions” would shell out for all their sky-is-the-limit expenses for almost a year now? Tell that to the devil if you do!
Hi proudpinoy,
kung sana lang(Gloria leaving office in 2010 as the present constitution warrants) pero yun na nga..that’s why Malacanang is working to push heaven and earth for its pet project advocacy: cha cha.
This may allow her to run again in a parliamentary setup…hell, even ending up as prime minister.
Sigaw is the lovechild of Lucifer and GMA. Sigaw is Damien! Sigaw’s favorite number is 666!
Things are starting to fall into place. With this admission, Mike Defensor’s statement during the press conference…
“That was her (GMA’s) voice, but she was not the one talking.â€Â
…begins to makes sense.
@ cvj.. dude, good one. =D
“non-partisan means not supporting a particular candidate or party. that is all the term means, and i think it applies quite clearly to One Voice. political involvement and advocacy is an entirely different matter.
mlq3 said this on July 23rd, 2006 at 10:35 pm”
— Since you are a member of that group, I will no longer argue with you what the term “non-partisan” means. Nevertheless, taking a stand on national issues, i.e. ANTI-PEOPLE’S INITIATIVE (through Singaw) is definitely NOT non-partisan. The CBCP’s endorsement of ONE VOICE as non-partisan should have been more specific. I welcome your distinction.
CVJ,
You said:

THAT’S SCARY. No wonder her voice is like no one else’s.
I can’t get over the stupidity of Raul Lambino running an ad proclaimng his group as one of Satan’s Legions. And he chose a Sunday to do it.
I once wrote that Lambino wasn’t as dumb as he looks. I take it back.
I hope they don’t get Mike Defensor to say – “That was their ad but they didn’t do the writing.”
Mas torpe pa pala kaysa kay Noli si Lambino.
The dictionary defines “partisan” as a firm adherent to a party , faction, cause, or person.
One Voice doesn’t seem to have identified itself with any political party. In this sense it is not a partisan of any political party (the Liberal, Lakas or any other political party).
But it does seem to be partisan in the sense that it is a firm adherent to a “cause” – which is that Cha-Cha is not necessary NOW and that elections should be held next year as scheduled.
Within the context of this definition of “partisan” therefore, the Sigaw ng Bayan is also in the same category as One Voice.
But reality being what it is, the pro and anti Gloria supporters ascribe motives to each of these two groups.
All that One Voice has done is go on TV ads to tell people that Cha Cha is not necessary now, that Cha Cha is not the solution to our problems, and that elections should be held as scheduled next year. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I haven’t heard them throw mud at Sigaw.
But Sigaw has now decided to ratchet up their game by coming up with these ads throwing all sorts of innuendos about One Voice. And committing a “legion” of a Biblical blunder in the process. There can only be one explanation for this mud-slinging. They’re scared of this One Voice. It must be discredited. Conclusion – One Voice must be gaining a lot of adherents to its cause.
SIGAW NG BAYAN !!! TAMA NA !!! PALITAN NA !!!
ANG SINUNGALING AT MANDARAYA !!!! PUTANGINA MO GLORIA !!!
GMA LIAR LIAR !!! ANG SINUNGALING AY ASAWA NG MAGNANAKAW !!!
MGA PUTANGINA NYO – GMA, MIKE PIDAL, DEFESNOR, ERMITA, BUNYE, PICHAY, GONZALES AT MGA ALIPORES NI SATANAS GLORIA !!!
bakit ba pilitang pinagko-connect na ang One Voice eh boses ng mga elitista at mayayaman? hindi ako ganon (hindi pa, haha!) pero sumang-ayon ako sa One Voice at lumagda ako sa posisyon nila. oh well sabi nga sa Bibliya (yaman rin lang at mahilig magquote ang iba dyan, palpak pa) “let him who is without sin cast the first stone.” mahilig magmalinis ang iba sa atin dyan eh. 😛
just as i theologically suspected, mike arroyo is not a swine for nothing.
I guess, one reason why Christ called is disciples, Apostles and other names was to avoid using the word “legion” to refer to them volunteers and armies of God to distinguish them from Satan’s followers called “legions.” Remember how the legions jumped into some swines when Christ exorcised them from some individual they possessed!!!
Now, we see the impersonification of these legions in the people leading the Philippines to perdition today. I won’t be surprised in fact to hear one of these days the Midget claiming she and her husband were descended from Christ in the same way they easily blasphemes God. Hopefully, they will commit the greatest sin, the unforgivable sin in fact so they can go straight to hell!!!
