There doesn’t seem to be the concept of sanctuary, which is still respected in some Catholic countries (i.e. once you seek sanctuary in a Catholic church, the civil authorities can’t go get you).
The NBI says it wants to take Atty. Ong into “protective custody”. A hapless general is pleading on radio for the priests and seminarians not to worry, and that it is in the interest of Ong to be be taken into custody! Sen. Magsaysay earlier said that Executive Secretary Ermita told him a warrant of arrest has been issued; the NBI claims ignorance of any warrant and insists it has the authority to go in and apprehend Ong.
