Jove Francisco is a chubby, well-spoken reporter who has been with ABC5 for ages. I’ve never had a real conversation with him, but he seems a very pleasant fellow. I don’t go out much, but I have a tendency to run into him when I’m on vacation, particularly in Baguio. Also, he was about the only reporter I’d regularly run into when prowling the Palace when I was working there.
He has a blog, BY JOVE!, which is always a good read, not least because he gives background to his work. This is very useful for the public -it’s good to know what reporters’ lives are like, what issues they wrestle with, and their opinions which they can’t express when reporting the news. He’s highly observant, which is not true, alas, for all reporters. His most recent entry, reporting on the farce that took place during a recent press briefing in the Palace, is instructive.
