Thanks MLQIII for the response. The reason I raised the possibility was the sadness I felt when I read Buencamino’s memoirs in your column about the little girl who lingered close to the decaying corpse of her mother. Mutliply this tragedy a million times over and then fast forward to 2004 where 8 million of us Pinoys have been in a sense forced into a diaspora desperately seeking a better life. Why could we have not turned into a South Korea, Japan, Taiwan when we were definitely much more rabidly pro-America than any of these nations? Could Lolo MLQI have foreseen this disaster as he lay dying in Saranac lake?
MANUEL LUIS QUEZON, was the best BENOVOLENT
DICTATOR THE PHILIPPINES PRODUCED. WE COULD
LEARN LESSONS FROM IT.
MY VIEW AS A STUDENT OF HISTORY.
